DJ GRIPPER
DJ and producer Gripper began collecting vinyl in the mid-70s and immediately became fascinated by the recording process and the collecting of records. In 1979 aged 14 he formed a punk band and began recording onto basic 4 track tapes. His tape splicing skills led to early mixtapes for break dancers during the Electro years in the early 80s.
Fast-forward to 1986 and regular visits to Manchester’s Hacienda and parties around London during the mid-80s led to a love affair with hip hop, funk, disco and early house music and Gripper DJ’ing at local INVASION DANCE DEPARTMENT underground parties and club nights in his home town of Barrow-in-Furness, England. Alongside organiser and DJ Sai-man Li.
